POST GRADUATE COURSE (M.Tech.)

The Institute has introduced the post-graduate course in ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING since 2003. Candidates desirous of securing admission to the first year M.Tech must have a B.E./B.Tech. Degree in Civil or Chemical Engineering from a Statutory University with at least 55% marks. The minimum percentage of marks may be waived for those are teachers either in Engineering College or Polytechnic joined before 28-02-1989.

What is Environmental Engineering?

The answer to the question must be tied to the definition of engineering itself. Engineering may be defined as the application under constraints of scientific principles to the planning, design, construction & operation of structures equipment and systems for the benefit of society. The environmental engineers deal with structures, equipments and systems that are designed to protect and enhance the quality of the environment and to protect and enhance public health and welfare.

Development in every sphere of human activities is an unending and continuous process. Development therefore should not meet a dead end even when the present resource enhancement and equitable use of existing resources. The impact of human activity and development without considering environment is a course for the better living. The effect is not just local but global in nature and may result to extinction of life on the globe. Environmental issues have become on overriding concern in national plans and policies among the developed and developing countries. Today no development project is considered complete without an environmental impact assessment. In an attempt to prevent the recurrence of tragedies occurring in various parts of the worlds, laws and regulation have been passed worldwide.
