In
1983, the Government of Maharashtra granted permission to Gondia
Education society to start an Engineering College. Founder of Gondia
Education Society Late Shri Manoharbhai Patel endeavored
throughout his lifetime to bring education to the masses. His dream
of an Engineering College was materialized by his son, a philanthropist,
Shri Praful Patel.

The
Manoharbhai Patel Institute of Engineering and Technology established
on a sprawling campus admeasuring 30 acres, offers 7 degree
courses in Computer Technology, Information Technology, Civil
Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics &
Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and a five year degree course in Architecture.
It has subsequently been granted an A Grade by the Government of
Maharashtra. The Institute is affiliated Education (AICTE)
and Council of Architecture, New Delhi.
The
founder Principal Late Dr. A.V. Badhe was a consummate administrator
and it was because of his vision, hard work and sheer competence
that this Institute made its own place in the annals of academic
history. After his sad demise, the reins of this Institute were
taken over by another equally competent person, Shri D. K. Mishra.
Though, it was tough act to follow the precedent set by Dr. Badhe,
Shri D. K. Mishra was equal to the task and the results are there
for every one to see. He has proved his mettle by organizing various
seminars, workshops and starting continuous education programs.
Prof.
Amiyakumar J. Sanyal, B.Arch., M.T.P., took over as Principal
of MIET Gondia on the 11th of August 2000 from Dr.Arun Shandilya.
He has vast experience in the professional field as well as academic
field. After finishing his studies in 1971, he has worked in the
various parts of the country, in both government and private organizations
in various capacities. He also served the Nigerian Government for
ten years, as the Principal Architect to the Government. He is widely
travelled person, having visited many countries in Europe, North
America and Africa over the years. He joined the Department in 1988,
the year of its inception. He has been instrumental in making the
Department one of the best Architecture Departments in the country.
A through and capable academician, he has also shown good and creative
qualities as an administrator. A relentless supporter of all positive
and healthy activities, he has an ambition to lead this Institute
to the topmost level in the field of technical education, and he
is working hard towards that goal.

The Manoharbhai Patel Institute of Engineering & Technology
covers 30 acres of land. Constructions of about 2,80,000
sq. ft. comprising of well equipped laboratories, classrooms,
workshops, centralized as well as departmental level computer centers,
library, boys and girls hostels, etc. within the campus. Apart from
that, we have banking facility, cooperative stores etc., inside
the campus.
Today
MIET has completed 21 Years and has emerged as a one of the
premier institute in India.
We
are confident that this Institute will continue to serve for the
noble cause of education in years to come and our students shall
bring laurels in every sphere of excellence. The Institute which
is emerging very fast at national horizon of learning has numerous
future expansion programs in diverse field of education. M.I.E.T.
is a dream, a vision of Gondia Education Society and it is marching
towards its zenith of success and glory.
